One of Europes Largest Defence Contractors
iPWC were appointed by this defence contractor to develop a new workplace environment for their Sales and Business Development function within their main campus accommodating over 2,500 staff.
This pilot project sought to deliver a flexible, modern and vibrant workplace for the teams to operate within, focusing on the creation of spaces that support and enable the delivery of sales campaigns, encouraging collaboration across all technical and commercial aspects and creating a showcase for the business promoting its identity, product and brand.
This client wanted our team of experts to challenge the current ‘traditional’ approach adopted by the business both from a design and management perspective. Whilst our focus was on the business activities and the workplace, we also engaged with teams from across other areas of the business including Information Management, Security, Safety, Organisation Design and Engineering.
We adopted our proven methodology, founded on a comprehensive programme of engagement to understand and capture the business activities, team culture, core business processes and current ways of working. The engagement was managed through key stakeholder interviews, visioning workshops with senior managers and team workshops, attended by a range of representatives from across the business. We also undertook a detailed appraisal of the current working environment vie targeted observations, a building infrastructure review and a space utilisation study, capturing the use of space, activity and technology. Building on the rich data sourced during the stakeholder engagement and workplace observations we developed, through a process of co-design with the business, a future workplace solution that provides an environment that is aligned to and supports the effective delivery of the business activities.
Working with the client sponsor and key stakeholders from the business we developed a proposed workplace solution for the Sales and Business Development function in addition to providing our client with an approved Future Workplace Standards which will be adopted as they continue to refresh and refurbish their estate across the UK.
We continue to work with the Head of Facilities & Estates, supporting them with the delivery of their workplace change programme.
A key benefit of our approach to clients such as this one is the depth and variety of engagement activities with the key stakeholders and staff groups in addition to other key stakeholders at an early stage.
Not only does this encourage the co-design of a future workplace solution, aligned with their specific needs it also enables the process of change in behaviour, culture and ways of working to commence at an early stage, thus creating the opportunity for greater buy in, ownership and sustainability.
